What we do
We work with men’s and women’s prisons across England and Wales, collaborating closely with kitchen teams, prisoners and staff. We understand the logistical and financial challenges faced by prisons in delivering high quality food and engaging food education. We have learnt to work within these parameters. Our projects have been designed to empower catering teams, encouraging them to work creatively and resourcefully to produce delicious food that has a positive impact on prison life.
We work closely with prisons, their staff and their residents on the topic of food. We design unique initiatives that enable prisons to champion healthy, nutritious and inventive food. Collaborating closely with catering staff, we help develop original menus, specifically designed to cater to the unique needs of their own population.

HMP Swinfen Hall
We are working across the grounds and kitchens of HMP Swinfen Hall, a Category C men’s and young offender’s prison in Staffordshire. The aim of the project is to provide meaningful opportunities around food, cooking and growing. Our 12-month programme involves transforming an existing greenhouse on the prison grounds into a working Kitchen Garden, with an exciting programme of outdoor education delivered by our Kitchen Garden Educator to a group of prisoners. As well as growing fresh food and introducing beekeeping, we are also delivering a culinary education course in the prison’s Staff Bistro, training a group of learners in a variety of cooking skills which will support future employment.
HMP Wealstun
We are working with HMP Wealstun, a Category C training prison in Yorkshire, to help transform the food culture and improve the health and wellbeing of the population. Working closely with the Catering Manager, we have introduced an “Option F” choice onto lunch and dinner menus - a wholesome and tasty choice, designed especially by our Development Chef. We are helping transform an existing in-house bakery into a thriving enterprise that helps subsidise the food budget, as well as creating a 20-page Wellbeing Guide for every prisoner at Wealstun. We will be delivering a practical programme of food education as well as educating prisoners on the benefits of eating well. Recipe packs, breakfast initiatives and further menu developments will also take place throughout the 12 month project.
